Music
This really caught my attention – how powerful songs are. It only takes the first few notes and suddenly we are no longer here and now, but somewhere completely different. In another place, in another time, with another person.
Recently, I was driving my car when an old song started playing on the radio. I hadn't heard it in years. Suddenly, I wasn't on the road anymore – I was sitting on a bench in front of my grandmother's house. It was summer, the air smelled like freshly cut grass, and I felt like the world was endless. That song was playing from a small radio on the windowsill back then. I would have never thought that I would connect it with that exact moment. And yet – just a few notes brought everything back in perfect detail.
Another song reminds me of a specific person. When I hear it, I can see his smile, hear his laughter, and remember the long conversations we had late at night. That song is no longer just music. It is a memory. It is a piece of the past that stayed with me.
And then there are songs that represent certain periods of our lives – a breakup, a new job, traveling, or the moment when I realized something in my life was changing. Music seems to capture emotions that I sometimes cannot even describe.
I find it fascinating that just two minutes of melody can carry so much meaning. For someone, it is just an ordinary song. For someone else, it is a return to their first love, a difficult decision, or the happiest summer of their life.
Maybe that is why music will never lose its power. It is not just sound. It is memory. It is a story. And sometimes, it is a person who is no longer standing next to us – but comes back for a moment through a song.
