Christmas Is About People
Christmas. A time when the world should slow down, at least for a moment. Shops are full, advertisements are loud, and everyone seems to compete over who has the biggest tree, the most lights, or the most expensive gifts. But the most important things cannot be bought. Christmas is not a competition. It is not about price tags, perfectly wrapped presents, or perfect decorations.
It is about people.
About those you sit at the table with, even if everything is not perfect. About those you laugh with, stay silent with, or simply share a look that says more than a thousand words. And it truly does not matter whether you spend these days with your family, friends, colleagues, or just one person who means a lot to you. What matters is that you spend them with someone you care about.
This year, try to let go of the pressure to have "perfect Christmas." Not everything has to go according to plan. Not everything has to be perfect. Being together is enough. Take a moment to slow down. Tell people you love them. Call someone you did not have time for during the year. Forgive. Smile. A hug often has more value than any gift under the tree.
Most importantly, be kind to one another. Not only at Christmas but starting right now. The world can be hard enough on its own, so we do not need to be hard on each other. Everyone is carrying something, and sometimes a little understanding can be the greatest gift of all.
So, this Christmas, forget expensive presents. Give your time. Your presence. Your kindness. That is what Christmas is truly about.
